Just to make things more difficult, it turns out there was a security problem with the old version of Video.js and they’ve just released version 4.0 which fixes the security problem, but also makes some significant changes to the player itself. I’m working on integrating everything to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Hi Kyle, I wrote to you on twitter, Iam working for an LA film/video editor. I hope these problems you are working currently on will help me and perhaps the video.js javascript was compromised and caused my problems. I am not sure.

I have had trouble getting the videos to play on android completely. It buffers in a loop. In addition, it is now extremely slow on an ipad or mac but not windows. Every video starts out in quicktime format so that seems strange. There is no activity on the server, so I know it is not users or spammers. We are using vimeo as a stop gap measure. The old version of Video Embed & Thumbnail Generator was working fine. I carefully read all your suggested links about containers and files the first time I installed your program. So I know that my formatting was not a problem.

I am using the template VideoGrid theme by https://themefuse.com/ and the encoding I use is:

    A /home/bnevins/Documents/cvledits/RescueMe_h264.mp4 I 2 A

I appreciate all your work and your help.

I don’t think your problem was related to the Video.js security problems, since they would have been exploited on the user’s end. And it doesn’t matter that your videos start as QuickTime. It only matters how they are encoded. I released version 4.1 of my plugin yesterday, which I hope will solve some of your problems. What do you mean by “extremely slow on an iPad or mac”? Do you mean that it takes a long time for the videos to load? Or is the interface sluggish? What program are you using to encode your videos? Have you enabled fast start in whatever program you’re using? Unfortunately Android can be picky about what videos it can play and of course there is not enough consistency between devices. It’s supposed to support Baseline Profile on all devices, and the video you pasted the specs for is Main Profile. I don’t know for sure if that’s the problem, but it’s a place to start. Do you have a video that you know for sure could play on an Android device in a previous version of my plugin that doesn’t play now? What version of the plugin worked for you? Which Android device did it work on? Can you send me a link to the video?
