• Hi,

There seems to be a bug with the “Do not show out of stock products” setting.

I have checked that box in the product filter, and in the Woo settings ? products ? inventory, I have also checked the option “Hide out of stock items from the catalog”.

    I see three issues:

    1. A text search in the product title still includes the out of stock items in the dropdown (ie search for ‘refresh’, the two spray items are out of stock.
    2. The item count is incorrect. For example on the category “Voorbehandeling”, it shows (4), but the category has 6 products of which 3 out of stock, so it should show (3). For the category “Reiniging & onderhoud” it shows (28), but it should be (24) as there are 4 out of stock.
    3. And when you check that category “Voorbehandeling”, it shows 4 items, but the “Rubio Monocoat GELE Schuurpad Multihole”‘” shouldn’t be there since it is out of stock. When you then uncheck that category and check it again, it correctly shows the three items that are in stock.

    Thanks
    JP

    Hi,

1 & 2. The Search and the Counts on your Taxonomies are always showing the total amount of products published, if you click on the out of stock product from search it won’t show it as a result, but in the search it will come up, because it is published, the “Disable Out of Stock” only applies to the results you get after applying the filter.

    3. I have just tested it and I can’t see the product you’ve mentioned, in “Voorbehandeling” there’s only 3 products: https://share.zight.com/yAuB0Kzz

    Thanks for explaining.

I looks like a part of the issues was caused by caching.

    2. The count now correctly shows the amount of ‘in stock’ items, so it doesn’t include the out of stock items any more.

    3. The display issues where it still showed the out of stock item is also gone.

So the only issue that remain is that the search still includes the out of stock items. Considering that they are not included in the counts and not being displayed in the results when selected, it would make sense to not display out of stock items in the search dropdown either.

Also, because Woo has a native option to hide out of stock items in “setting ? products ? inventory ? Hide out of stock items from the catalog”, suggests that the “Disable Out of Stock” filter setting does more then what the Woo native option does. Otherwise it would just be a redundant setting.

Could you please register this as a feature request, to hide out of stock items from the title search drop down when “Disable Out of Stock” is enabled?

    Thanks

Yes, I see, but unfortunately the Search does show up all published products at the moment, but if you would hide the out of stock products from everywhere, even your catalog / shop page, then it would be better setting that product as draft for the moment, then when you’ll re-enable it, then you can publish it again, so this way it won’t show up anywhere (this is an option only if the entire product is out of stock, not just a variation of a product).

I will save this as a feature request.

    Have a good day!

Setting as draft isn’t the best option because that results in a 404 page when people come to that page through Google. It would mean creating a redirect, removing it again and republish when the product is back in stock. Too much trouble.

Thanks for adding as a feature request

    Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, in that case it is not an option for you to set the product to draft, we’ll see if we can add that feature in a future update.
