Bug – BuddyPress bbp style pack FSE profiles broken/not showing
-
I’m using a FSE theme along with bbPress, BuddyPress and bbp style pack.
After the last Gutenberg update user Profiles stopped showing, along with any other on page BuddyPress content.
After quite a bit of testing I realised turning off Gutenberg resolved this.
Is there a workaround for this? Or does anyone know the cause?
Thanks

Hi @ahillmortons ! If this happened right after an update of the Gutenberg plugin, it might be a regression of some kind. Can you try using the previous version of the Gutenberg plugin and check if the issue still happens? You can use a plugin like WP Rollback to install an older version of the plugin.
Depending on the result of this test, we can work on submitting a bug report to the appropriate place (BuddyPress and/or Gutenberg).
Yes, it was right after an update, I did lots of settings checking and then plugin trial and error testing and it was Gutenberg that broke BuddyPress, I have rolled back from 16.6.0 to 16.5.1 and activated it and everything works OK again, so it appears to be the latest version causing the issue/conflict, or it’s possibly lacking support for something.
I’m aware bbPress/BuddyPress don’t fully support FSE, which is why I have the bbp style pack plugin installed with FSE support turned on in that.
For further information, I am using a Multisite of which the 2 sites with issues were subsites, WordPress and all other plugins were up to date. I am using the Lawson theme by ThemeZee but with my own style modifications.
Many Thanks,
Andy
Hi @ahillmortons!
I can reproduce this as well. Thank you for all the details.
I created an issue here as I believe it is indeed related to a new Gutenberg code: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/54405
Feel free to review the issue and subscribe it for notifications.
Hi @foosantos,
I just wanted to let you know that after updating WordPress to the latest version and Gutenberg to the latest version (along with all my other plugins) – The BuddyPress profile has started showing again. If it was down to the ticket you put in for me then I thank you greatly.
I have now got another issue that has come up since the update which won’t let me edit Posts I get a white screen with a warning. I will put both a screenshot and the error below.
When I disable Gutenberg I’m able to edit posts again without error.
I’ve seen a couple of people post support items with something that may be similar, so I will post this there also.
Many Thanks,
Andy

Hi,
Just to add to the above. I have rolled back from version 17.0.2 to 16.9.1 and both the profiles and editor work. So it appears to be something on the latest version causing the issue.
Many Thanks,
Andy
Hey @ahillmortons,
I have now got another issue that has come up since the update which won’t let me edit Posts I get a white screen with a warning. I will put both a screenshot and the error below.
When I disable Gutenberg I’m able to edit posts again without error.
I’ve seen a couple of people post support items with something that may be similar, so I will post this there also.
I’d love to take a look at that.
Since this appears to be unrelated to the original question, could I ask you to please open a new support thread?
If you want to share the link to the new thread in your next reply here, I will mark this conversation as “solved” and we can continue in the new thread.
Keeping threads separated will help future users find them more easily ??
Thank you!
Hi @jordesign
Sure, I will put this as resolved and create a new ticket. My apologies.
Many Thanks,
Andy
