Ok, I installed buddypress and the majority of it’s addons. Like others on the internet I can’t register on the page any more. SimulPoster.com
    is my page.

I’ve posted for help in buddypress forums, but it seems pretty dead in there.

    Settings > BuddyPress > Pages

Is were you see it say there is no page selected for Register or Activate. I can only select: Activity, Gropus, or Members for the registraiton or activate page, or create a new page. I can’t link it to anything. As you can see trying to register only brings you to the /register/ page that doesn’t exist.

Does anyone know how to create a register page, or install some pluging that creates a register page ?

  • You will need to create a registration page like a normal page in WordPress dashboard.
Then go to Settings->BuddyPress->Pages and select that page as registration page. Click save.
Now, you can logout and check. That should work.

I don’t get it, creating a page with no content won’t create a registration page. I don’t know what code to put in the registration page.

You just need to create an empty page.
The go to BuddyPress settings and associate with registration page by selecting it from the drop down.

BuddyPress will automatically use registration/register.php to generate that page if your template supports BuddyPress else it will use the theme compatibility to generate that page on front end.

All you need to do it just create a page and associate it to register page in the BuddyPress pages setting. Give it a try, it will work.

    https://mindblowingidea.com/simulposterwordpress/register-2/
That’s what I get now. It didn’t generate anything. Also it still tries to go to https://mindblowingidea.com/simulposterwordpress/register/ and apperantly that page already exists somewhere.

As I Understand you are using BuddyPress 1.7.2
Try disabling the plugin you are using for login customization and see if that work.

Ok, I used a plugin to make https://mindblowingidea.com/simulposterwordpress/register-2/ work, but there is still this grey bar at the top of the site that has a register link, that doesn’t work.

You should not use a custom plugin to make registration page work. It is inbuilt feature of BuddyPress. Using a custom plugin for that will be a wrong way to do it.

You should try deactivating any other plugin except BuddyPress and check if that works. That will give an idea of what is wrong on the setup. Then, you can start activating plugins one by one and can find the culprit.

Users on the site can’t get to their profile pages, and can’t edit them either. buddypress isn’t making them.

buddypress is having all kinds of issues, and I’m wondering if I’ll be able to use it.

I’ve posted for help in buddypress forums

@usacomputertec Deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and change to BuddyPress Default theme or the Twenty Twelve theme. Check that registration and other BP components are working before activating other plugins and new theme

    (@usacomputertec)

    Yep mercime I posted there.

Ok I’ll try your suggestion. I’ll disable the Yahoo plugins, and all non buddypress plugins, and install the Twenty Twelve theme, and see if anything useful happens.

    Thread Starter usacomputertec

    (@usacomputertec)

Step 1. Removed all non-buddypress plugins, and used a buddypress theme.
    Didn’t work
Step 2. Remove all plugins except buddypress.
    More problems:

This webpage has a redirect loop
The webpage at https://mindblowingidea.com/simulposterwordpress/members/administrator/ has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.

    Reload this webpage later.

Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects.

when trying to access a profile of any user.

Step 3. Switching to Twenty Twelve.
Now I can’t even get to the activity page without:

Looks like with each step I did to try to fix it, it got worse.
I really think someone needs to “register” and “Log in” and try this for yourself if you are brave enough. I’ll have to re-enable the register plugin and stuff so you can.

    (@usacomputertec)

Apparently the Twenty Twelve theme is the cause of the redirect loops.

    Thread Starter usacomputertec

    (@usacomputertec)

After re-enabeling all the plugins, the loop error goes away.

    (@usacomputertec)

Only the Status theme seems to be compatible with the site activity now.
I’ve purged this site before and started over, every time it seems that no matter what plugins I don’t use, and all the hoops I jump threw, I still have the same problems.
