Hi, you can add a filter like this to your bp-custom.php file or wherever you add custom filters:

add_filter( 'bp_docs_post_args_before_save', function( $save_args ) {
    if ( ! current_user_can( 'bp_moderate' ) ) {
        $save_args['post_status'] = 'bp_docs_pending';
    }
    return $save_args;
} );

@dcavins sorry for dumb question, but where would I be able to find the bp-custom.php ? I figured it would be in buddypress-docs/includes/functions.php
