Is there or are there plans to support integration with BuddyPress/BuddyBoss?

It’d be great to link and display the community membership/activity in the directory profiles, such as profile page, groups, forums, friends, followers etc.? Likewise, if a directory profile is associated to a BP/BB profile, a link back to the directory profile should be available in the profile page too. And use the BP/BB user profile image for the directory image, if it exists.

Perhaps it could be added as another available field set in Settings? Perhaps an autocomplete field and maybe with user verification/pending security, so that the associated profiles can “accept” the connection, before they are displayed on the directory and BP/BB profiles.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

There is no specific integration with BuddyPress or BuddyBoss.

That said, if something like this were to be added, it would have to be added as a feature to the Link addon:

The reason is that the Link addon links a Connections Entry to a WordPress User. If BuddyPress and BuddyBoss are like bbPress, their profiles are attached to the WordPress User account. So this link between the Connection Entry and WordPress User would be required to attach/insert content on the BuddyPress and BuddyBoss profile pages.

I’ve never personally used either of these plugins and had not heard of BuddyBoss until now, but assuming they have actions/filters in the correct places within their profile pages; it should be relatively easy to add backlinks to their Linked directory Entry for each plugin.

Likewise, it should not be too difficult to pull in BuddyPress activity on the directory Entry page. But that could require a bit more work.

If this is something you would lie to explore further, please contact be using the Contact link at the very bottom of the following page:

Thanks for your inquiry. I hope I have thoroughly answered it. Please let me know.

    Thanks for the response, Steven.

BuddyBoss is a fork of BuddyPress, so technically any BuddyPress compatible plugin is also compatible with BuddyBoss. One could say BB is a paid/maintained social network WP platform, although the base plugin is free, the accompanying theme is paid.

I will take a closer look at Link addon.

Is the Links add-on different to the Links field?

Speaking of the Links field, would it be possible to add a “[blank]” option where I can specify the link type, other than the website and blog options? And or the ability to display a favicon of the URL?

    Thanks again

The Links field is for links to website URLs.

The Link addon links a single WordPress User to a single Connections Entry so that the WP User can maintain that directory entry. (or if they do not have an entry, add one)

Custom link field types can be added on the Connections Settings admin page under the Fieldset Config tab.

I hope this helps, let me know.

Thanks, Steven! I managed to make the changes as you directed. Great stuff.

Also, I may have spotted a bug for the link fieldset, the “assign link to the image” and “assign link to the logo” options are radio-buttons rather than checkboxes, and both can be selected, and none can be unselected.

One additional suggestion for the link fieldset, would be for the URL field to be a autocomplete field querying the URLs of the site, or allowing user to specify any/external URL, similar to the link block in Gutenberg.

When adding additional social network type options, the logo/icon is the RSS icon for any added option. Is there a way to replace this default (upload perhaps?) or would this need to be done from a push of a new release? I’d like to add TikTok, Reddit and some additional international networks (Douyin, BiliBili)

Click the icon to open the icon chooser. It’ll have the Reddit icon, but not the others.

    Sorry, forgot, to add…

Could you please open a new support topic for different questions/requests? It makes it far easier for me to track, especially when it comes to feature requests.
