Buddypress Activity Stream Hooks

Aloha, Good day!

I would like to ask here about the hook for the activity stream in buddypress when adding new updates such as status, new post, blog update, etc. ?

I tried ‘bp_activity_record’ and use it in my theme’s function file add_action(‘bp_activity_record’,’function_name’); but it seems like it is not firing when i add new post or statuses using the what’s new box.
