• Recently, I’m unable to start a BuddyMeeting regardless of the community instance I select (8×8; meet.mayfirst.org). I’m now always prompted to wait for the moderator or to login as the moderator to start the meeting. My question is how do I become a moderator? I can’t find instructions on how to become a moderator! Please advise. Thanks

Can someone please explain how to use a Google account to create a room on BuddyMeet? I understand Jitsi no longer supports the anonymous creation of rooms on meet.jit.si but Cytec should at least provide BuddyMeet users with instruction on how to use the BuddyMeet plugin and how to create an moderator account. Is that too much to ask?

Having the same issue as @rgraulus .

Is there any chance for an update to fix the problem?

    Cheers, Lars

    Dear @cytechltd ,

Please let us know if you intend to update the plugin … ?

    Hi,

First of all, we would like to reference the related discussion here, as this thread is a continuation of that one.

After conducting some tests, we confirmed that the login flow now supports embedded clients connected via the IFrame API. We’ve just released a new version (2.5.0) of the plugin, enabling users to log in.

Having said that, we tested the new version using the official public servers, and here are the results:

    1. meet.jit.si: We logged in using a Google account and initiated the call. However, the server enforces a ‘5 minutes only’ limit on meetings.
    2. 8×8.vc: As soon as we clicked the login button, the 8×8.vc login page was displayed. However, only login via an 8×8.vc account was supported, and we did not find a way to create one.

Please note that due to the official servers’ stricter usage policies, you may need to consider either a self-hosted solution or a paid option of the Jitsi Video Server. One of our future plans is to support the Jitsi as a Service model recently offered by the 8×8.vc team. However, this will require you to subscribe to an active billing plan before connecting.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the answer. I can confirm the issue with the the 8×8.vc account, so I ended up trying to simply embed a 8×8 Jitsi as a Service on my site. Haven’t tested it yet, so don’t know if I can recommend.

    Cheers, Lars

What is the timing regarding BuddyMeet support for the 8×8 Jitsi-as-a-Service model?

Hi Lars – were you able to test it out yet?

    Hi,

At present, support for JAAS model is on our radar, but we cannot provide a timeline for its implementation at this stage.

    Thanks,

    Hi @cytechltd,
Found your plugin, looked perfect. Installed….. and wasted 4 hours trying to get past the impenetrable 8×8-jaas. Created an account with 8×8 for 25 users (free) but login through the buddymeet front end is impossible. Doesn’t recognise my user or password!

Installed jitsi-meet plugin instead, and was sorted in a few moments. Shame. Any news on updates please?
    Many thanks, Simon
