buddy press register page missing

I just installed and activated the most recent buddy press and am using the default buddy press theme. However, when I view my site, there is no /register page. I checked under Buddy Press pages on the dashboard to make sure that each wordpress page is associated with each buddy press component. When I click to view each one (such as /members and /activate) they all work. But when I click to view register, I simply get the home page, with no registration option. What am I missing? Is there an additional plugin I need.
