I had a backup set up that was working, but at some point I started getting an error that says that S3 bucket does not exist. It does. I tried creating a new user and made sure permissions were correct. The BackWPup plugin lets me select the bucket from a drop-down list, so the connection has to be working. But still, the backup doesn’t work. It still says the bucket does not exist.

    Any suggestions?

Could you please make sure that BWU has enough permission to backup to AWS S3?

The recommended permission by the community you can take a look here, also in case it still does not work, could you give us a screenshot of the job config?

    Thank you!

    Hi there!

Maybe I have the same problem. My backups to Amazon S3 have stopped working since October 12, 2023. It just says

I haven’t changed anything in the settings in WordPress or on Amazon.

    Any news on that?

I can say that the user I’m using for the backups has full access on Amazon S3.

I too have had the same error for a few days

hmm, that’s strange since I couldn’t reproduce the issue, all backups to S3 went fine for me.

    Here is my configuration:

There is a possibility of plugin conflict, i would suggest install Health Check plugin then enable only BackWPUp in troubleshooting mode and run the job again.

I have the exact same configuration. Full access on S3.
Obviously it can connect to S3. The old backup will also be deleted. still there is an error message. I don’t know what to do anymore.

Yes, those are the same settings I’m using. I took your suggestion and installed the Health Check plugin and enabled only the BackWPup plugin and tried running it again, and the exact same thing happens. It still says the bucket does not exist.

Might be related. All S3 backups have been failing for me for the last couple of weeks. I see this when I open the job settings.

@duongcuong96 – any update on this?

I would also like to solve the problem and I can’t (on just one site) upload the backups. Same user and same credentials on other sites works.

@toddheitner did you tried the same settings but in difference enviroment? like in your local machine or another hosting?

Also what is your server info? could you please share it to us in BackWPUp -> settings -> infomation tab?

    Thank you!

Since 4 months went by with no response, I gave up and uninstalled the plugin and am using a different one now, which is working well.
