Hi! I *just* upgraded to BruteProtect 2.4.1 and I’m getting this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method BruteProtect::get_transient() in /path/to//wp-content/plugins/bruteprotect/bruteprotect.php on line 192

This happens when I try to access the Dashboard after the upgrade.

    Help!!!!

    Thanks!

    Peace…

Also, since I now can’t access the Dashboard, I won’t be able to install any subsequent update to BruteProtect. So, how can I regain access to the Dashboard?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the report. We’ve found the problem, and will be releasing fixes in version 2.4.2 within an hour.

For now, you can regain access to your dashboard if you manually delete the BruteProtect plugin folder via FTP. It is found in wp-content/plugins/bruteprotect

And you can re-install once 2.4.2 is released.

Thanks, Rocco! We are seeing the same problem here also. Standing by for 2.4.2.

Do we have to manually delete via FTP in order to install the new release?

One quick question. Will version 2.4.2 require JetPack?

    Thanks!

    Peace…

@bajabert if you have already installed 2.4.1 and your /wp-admin is broken, then, yes, you will have to delete the /wp-content/plugins/bruteprotect/ directory first, then reinstall the BruteProtect plugin from /wp-admin. If you haven’t installed 2.4.1 yet, and your /wp-admin is OK…then you can update to 2.4.2 normally.

@tomdkat BruteProtect 2.4.2 is a stand-alone plugin (no Jetpack). Per previous postings, BruteProtect is available as a stand-alone plugin until the end of 2015. Starting in 2016, the only way to get BruteProtect protection will be to install JetPack ??

    Thanks!

HOW do you manually delete the BruteProtect plugin folder via FTP?????

Does this mean it will self correct or do I need to manually delete via FTP?

    Need help correcting this!

Ok, I just upgraded to version 2.4.2 and everything went smooth as silk. ??

For those who are still having problems, this is what I did:

    1) Login to the server via FTP
    2) Found the /wp-content/plugins/bruteprotect/ directory
    3) Renamed it
    4) Logout of server
    5) Logged in to WordPress dashboard ok

This morning, when I logged in to WordPress, I saw an update notification for BruteProtect 2.4.2. I updated it from within WordPress, as normal, and everything worked without issue.

Thanks for fixing the problem so quickly!

    Peace…
