Brute force WordPress attack question

  • Hi! For the past month or so, I’ve noticed several brute force attacks on a WordPress blog I maintain. The attacks are coming from several different IP addresses, so it’s kind of coordinated attack.

    My question: have others noticed similar kinds of attacks recently?

    I did some searching and didn’t find any articles about recent or current “mass” WordPress attacks, so I wanted to see if anyone here has noticed a recent increase in hacking or attack activity.

  • Not a recent increase. My sites just keep on getting 1,000’s of attempts every month, so I’ve learnt that with good security, secure themes and plugins, updates when they are available, a couple of good security plugins, and the advice at Hardening WordPress, I don’t have to worry about anything more then using up some bandwidth.
