Brute-force Protection returning “No response from server!”

  • Hi.

    I’m not able to get Brute-force Protection to install. It hangs on “Checking for session compatibility … ” and then times out and says “No response from server!” I even tried turning off all other plugins including Sucuri.

    Any ideas why this is happening?

    PHP: 5.6.37
    WordPress: 4.9.8
    Plugin: 4.17.69

    This error has to do with your servers ability to maintain a persistent session and/or invoke rewrite rules from .htaccess files. What version of Apache are you running?

    Check with your hosting provider to confirm that rewrite rule and sessions are active and functioning properly on the server. Make sure that the /tmp/ directory is not full or write protected.
