Well, it’s busted in Firefox. Sorry to hear you aren’t switching. There are a lot of great tools available that turn Firefox into more than just a browser. I use the Webdeveloper toolbar all the time when working on my own sites and when trying to help others with theirs. That said, there’s no reason why you can’t install Firefox. You don’t have to give up your current browser. In fact, I have Mozilla, Firefox, IE, Opera, and Netscape Navigator 4.x all installed on my computer.

OK, so the first post probably made it obvious that I used IE when designing it.

Out of major curiousity about the hype, I just installed Firefox to see how it would look to many of you.

Can anyone tell me why it looks great on IE but like crap on Firefox, which seems to be having a problem interpreting margins?

What I am really concerned with is ensuring that it looks the way I intended, no matter what browser someone is using. Isn’t that why there are XHTML standards in the first place?

I totally understand that you want it to look the same across browsers. That’s why you should use a browser that, while not perfect, is far more standards-compliant than IE.

EDIT: “Comments? I can take it.” Seems you are a bit sensitive about my comments. I had and have no intention of trying to do anything but help and make suggestions as you requested.

It’s obvious to me why you and Podz are developers.

I may know a lot about coding compared to the layman, but by no means do I consider myself an expert.

No sweat dude…I’m not an expert either. I just know that Firefox is more of a tool than a browser to me. But what works for me doesn’t always work for someone else. I’m looking at the site right now, and if I can spot anything, I’ll be sure to post back.

But thats why we are here – because together we can get there ! If you’ve got problems, rather than see them as a seething mass, just pick one, and we’ll take that outside, teach it the error of it’s ways and then move on to the next one.

I’m wondering about the paragraphs in the searchfoot text and sidefoot text divs. You have defined a height for the div, so what if you removed the paragraphs from those two divs?

What could be throwing off the alignment of the titles?

Try adding padding-top: 20px; to .postcount and padding-top: 20px; to .navtext and padding-top: 20px; to .datetext and padding-top: 20px; to .searchtitle and padding-top: 20px; to .sidetitle.

I think that covers it.

Is there some code I could put into the page so it is not viewable by IE, or redirects to another page?
I almost would like it to not be seen at all rather than look like dookie.

Well, there are ways of calling IE-only style sheets and there are such a thing as conditional comments that IE reads and no other browser bothers with.

I don’t think you will look like a dookie. I would just keep plugging away at it until you’ve figured it out. It can be very frustrating, but it’s ultimately rewarding in the end. This stuff can be seemingly impossible to learn at times. I’ve hit the wall on many occasions, and wanted to quit totally, but I’ve always come back and hacked away at it.

Just remember to have fun while you’re doing it. Also, you can check out many resource sites, like AListApart and https://communitymx.com/ which have a lot of good articles and information available to help us through these frustrating situations.
