I am having an issue with the page title that displays on my browser tab. It seems that no matter what, each and every page on my website has a title tag with the “site title” being placed in front of whatever I input in settings.

Here is an example of how a page displays in my settings:
Contact Us | Totally Custom Wallpaper

and here is how it displays on the front end (browser tab title):
Totally Custom Wallpaper Contact Us | Totally Custom Wallpaper

I have the WordPress “Site Title” and “Tagline” set correctly in my admin Settings > General.

When I edit each individual page, my Yoast SEO snippet preview is correct and the preview displays as I want it to.

When I access my Yoast settings in YoastSEO > Search Appearance > Content Types… The SEO title variables under “Pages” are set to TITLE | PAGE | SEPARATOR | SITE TITLE

Is there something I am missing here? I just need my page titles to display without the extra site title at the front.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

We see you are using v8.3 of Yoast SEO for WordPress, which is outdated. Please update to the most recent version by following the steps here — https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/

Upon checking https://totallycustomwallpaper.com/about-us/, we do see that the <title> tag is:

Totally Custom Wallpaper About Us | Totally Custom Wallpaper

Could you please edit that specific page and click on the ‘edit snippet’ button and send us a screenshot of the SEO title you’ve set?

Otherwise, we would recommend performing a conflict check to see if there are no other conflicting plugins or themes that are causing this issue.

    Okay, I updated the plugin.

    Here are my screenshots:

No matter how I format the SEO Title (using snippet variables or manually inputting the title how I’d like), it still shows with an extra site title at the front.

I do not have any other SEO plugins that may conflict.. is it really a possibility that any one of my unrelated plugins would cause this issue?

It seems I have fixed this issue by enabling “FORCE REWRITE TITLES” in the YoastSEO general settings of Search Appearance.

Not sure why it wasn’t working as its intended before as all my inputs were correct.. but at least this is a band-aid to the problem.
