Broken WordPress Dashboard

  • My admin dashboard unexpectedly became broken, displaying disrupted formatting and garbled text (see attached screenshots for details). I attempted to troubleshoot the problem by deactivating plugins one by one. I discovered that the issue disappeared after deactivating Wordfence. Although Wordfence was set to auto-update, I believe it updated a few days ago, and there were no problems until this morning. Could you please assist me in resolving this issue? Thank you.

    Hi @gags9999, thanks for reaching out.

    Are you seeing the exact same result when logging in using a private/incognito window, and even a browser different to your default choice? If it does, do you have any caching plugins or caching on your hosting server that could be cleared to see if that improves the situation?

    If the issue still persists, are you seeing 404 errors in your browser console for scripts related to Wordfence?

    Thanks for your response, Peter. I tried the incognito mode and activated Wordfence. Everything looked pristine. Then I refreshed my already logged in browser in normal mode and surprisingly everything was back to normal.

    Can you tell me what really happened here and what can I do to avert or troubleshoot such a problem in the future? Thanks.

    The screenshots you shared suggest your issue is the result of a caching issue. Not a frequent event, but it does happen. Clearing all of your cache layers in the order given below should take care of your issue. After clearing your cache layers restart your browser(s).
