• Hi there this is my first post.

About a week back my website was running fine. This last week I have had, Internal server error 500, white screen of death, connected timed out when trying to deactivate all plug-ins, media library not working and errors when trying to upload images.

I am currently running wordpress-4.5.3 a few days ago I updated to 4.6 but as i was getting so many errors i have downgraded back to 4.5.3.

I have gone through all the plug-ins deactivating them and found that simple history plug-ins may have been causing internal server error 500. I have since deleted this.

But even after this I have noticed it causing internal server error 500 popping up but less frequently, it seems to come back when I deactivated plug-ins from time to time, but like i said not as much as when i was running simple history plug-ins.

At this moment all plug-ins are deactivated and i am running twenty sixteen them but still the media library is buggered.

I have tried deleting the ht access file and hitting save permalinks.

I have tried uploading a fresh copy of wp-admin and wp-includes of version 4.5.3.

    Still no luck.

A few days back when I was getting internal server error 500 and connection timed out when deactivating all plug-ins. I uploaded a backup copy of the database and got a database error something about primer key I should have saved it, not sure what it is?

I have recently checked the tables for errors and it reports there is none, “OK”.

FTP is also being strange trying to pull down a copy of my site the folder that holds my templates, plug-ins etc wont download with the rest of the files unless I manually pull them from the folder after the core files have download haha?!

Been in touch with the hosting company as I was getting “530 Sorry, the maximum number of clients (3) for this user are already connected. Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server”

I thought maybe I have been hacked but they say there is nothing wrong and changed my password lol… I am still getting the error.
So basically I have been hit with every error possible at the minute and not sure what steps to take to fix WordPress.

Anyone get any suggestion please i am stummed? i am thinking maybe to start from stratch export all the pages and database and plugin settings from Easy Digital downloads and FES.

  • Did you try installing your theme on a fresh WordPress install ?

    Hiya ashiquzzaman,

I am going to setup a fresh install i think doing it this way will root out the errors because right now i have no idear where they are coming from!

Internal server errors (error 500) are often caused by plugin or theme function conflicts, so if you have access to your admin panel, try deactivating all plugins. If you don’t have access to your admin panel, try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the default theme for your version of WordPress to rule-out a theme-specific issue. If you don’t have access to your admin panel, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue.

If that does not resolve the issue, it’s possible that a .htaccess rule could be the source of the problem. To check for this, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and rename the .htaccess file. If you can’t find a .htaccess file, make sure that you have set your SFTP or FTP client to view invisible files.

If you weren’t able to resolve the issue by either resetting your plugins and theme or renaming your .htaccess file, we may be able to help, but we’ll need a more detailed error message. Internal server errors are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that time period. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.

I have noticed that when I activate all my plug-ins “tougher” without Easy digital downloads front end submission plug-in I don’t get Connection timed out?

But asoon as i do activate all plug-ins tougher with Easy digital downloads front end submission it times out. i go back and the plugin is active haha….

Also just noticed exporting my FES settings i get yep you guessed it.

I have contacted the plugin developer, see what they say.

I am worried that maybe my database is buggered? or corrupt…

When i check the table it reports everything is “ok” but i get an error last week importing the dtabase something about prima key what is that?

And how would i find it the database is corrupt?

Do server error logs say issue with your database? If not, then it’s unlikely.

I don’t have access to this i will question this though with the service provider. Thanks for the advise it’s appreciated.

Hey lads i have installed a fresh version of wordpress witha new database….

I have imported my old database tables into the new one, but it’s not done anything?

Is there anything i need to do to get it working?

    To debug these problems quickly.

    1) Have your hosting provider install XDebug via pecl/pear

    2) Enable xdebug.scream in your xdebug.ini php file

    3) Enable WP_DEBUG in your wp-config.php file

This combo almost always surfaces problems after updates.

And, likely culprit is trying to run WordPress-4.6 on very old versions of PHP.

Best runtime environment is always latest stable Apache + MariaDB (MySQL if you’re a thrill seeker) + PHP.

If you’re hosting provider is running downlevel version of these subsystems, then WordPress 4.7.x upgrades will likely trigger other problems.
