Several of our websites using wordfence are returning 404’s after the automatic update to 6.0.25. I was able to get into the admin using the /wp-admin however none of the other pages seem to work. Deactivate Wordfence plugin and everything is fine.

Sites are hosted on Windows server 2012 IIS 8. This happens on 2 separate servers.

Hopefully this is a quick and easy bug fix.

  • Hello jboxrox,
while Wordfence runs fine on some Windows systems, Wordfence is unfortunately not supported on Windows platforms. I can advice you to check the database though and see if you find anything out of the ordinary there. It does not come up often but there have been occasional reports of missing or duplicate Wordfence tables when installing or migrating WordPress with Wordfence on Windows platforms.

wfasa, Thanks for the quick reply. I will look into your suggestion regarding the db.

I just wanted raise the issue in-case others have similar problems. Wordfence was running great on these sites for about a year. Problem happened immediately following the 6.0.25 update.

Noted jboxrox. Thanks for reporting it!

How do I resolve this if I can no longer get to the admin page?

    Hello rgatl,
You can log on to your web server with FTP/SSH and rename the Wordfence folder. here is more information on that. If you have further questions please create a new support thread and describe your situation. Thanks!
