I am running the most current version of WordPress and using the Chrome browser on my tablet and my computer.

And you have 3.3.4 of YouTube Embed installed? I put in a fix for this issue within that release.

    David.

    Yes. I just checked. I’m using 3.3.4.

    Thanks.

As with those who have reported this in the past, it’s hard for me track down as I’m not seeing the same issue. However, if you could provide me with some further information it would be appreciated…

    1) Which browser are you using?
    2) In the screenshots I can see some additional features on the editor. Can you confirm, if you know, where the following came from…

The brown “open in visual editor” button
The mail icon in the toolbar
The blue icon in the toolbar

    Many thanks,
    David.

    David.

I have a test site set up. If you provide me an email, I can set up an admin account.

As I’m sure you’ll understand I try not to put my email out on a public forum. If you can contact me via my plugin contact page at https://www.artiss.co.uk/plugin-contact, I’ll respond back to you.

Thanks for giving me access. I can see a Javascript error being produced…

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 (Forbidden)
Failed to load: [your test site URL]/wp-content/plugins/youtube-embed/js/mce4-button.min.php

Why there’d be a 403 error against this file is a different matter and I’m not sure. I’ll put my feelers out and see what I can find out.

So, did you figure anything outout?

    Plugin Contributor David Artiss

    (@dartiss)

Sadly not, no responses. I have feeling it’s because I’m mixing PHP and JavaScript – I have an idea of how to move this towards just using JavaScript and, hopefully, this will resolve the problem.

I’m just finishing off changes to another plugin, at which point I can start work on this – hopefully, next week.

… all my other plugins are now sorted. Will start the changes for this on Monday ??

Could you possibly try this version of the plugin and tell me if the editor button now works?

    Thanks.

I’ve been having the same problem with the visual editor not working with YouTube Embed running. It used to be fine, and I’m not sure at what point / version it stopped working. It was broken on 3.3.3 and 3.3.5.

I’ve just tried the 3.3.4 (61522) build you included above and that fixes the visual editor problem.

I then updated to 3.3.5 and it broke again. Back to this test build and it works again.

Can you merge these changes into the next rev?

    Plugin Contributor David Artiss

    (@dartiss)

The thing is, the changes in that 61522 built were in 3.3.5, so I have no idea what happened. Never-the-less, version 4 is around the corner and should fix the editor issue once and for all ??

    David.

Hmm, interesting. I did switch back and forth between 61522 and 3.3.5 several times to be sure. I’ll stick with 61522 for now and as soon as I see a new version I’ll test it out and let you know what happens.

    cheers,

    Geoff.

Version 4.0 should now resolve this.
