I am completely new to building a blog and am stumbling my way around- so please be patient with my ignorance!

I’m trying to load a theme from the theme viewer and I keep getting the ‘broken themes’ message, which says the stylesheet is missing. I read a previous thread about this but it didn’t really help. I’ve checked in the files that came with the theme when I uploaded to my file manager, and I found one called ‘style’, so I assume that’s a stylesheet, I’ve deleted and re-downloaded and then re-uploaded to file manager… I can’t figure it out. Any ideas?

Update: So I went into the file containing the stylesheet, opened it, then ‘saved as’ style.css to the desktop and uploaded it separately from the theme file into my file manager. That, for some reason, seems to have worked, but now I get the ‘broken themes’ message that says the template is missing, and I don’t see a ‘template’ file anywhere.

Your “file manager” might screwing up things. Use a FTP client > FTP_Clients

Wow, I am a complete moron about all of this stuff but that was fairly easy after spending a little time in the yahoo help pages. Thanks for the link- the theme I wanted is working perfectly now!
