    Hello:
on 1/21, 2/4, and this morning, 2/12, I received an email stating there were broken links on a site page. each time I checked the links they were not broken, however the links have a line through them. I clicked ‘not broken’ for each link, in the plugin and the issue was resolved. until the next time. why did this start happening in January? why has it happened 3 of the past 4 weeks? these file have not been updated in the past few months. nothing has changed. what is causing this??

    Hi @bduffey

I hope you are doing well today.

Can you share your site URL so that we could check that domain in our logs? Also can you share pages which were reported as broken?

    Kind Regards,
    Kris

    Hi @bduffey

I didn’t find this domain in our logs which means that you are most likely using the “Local” engine in Broken Link Checker and not the “Cloud” one.

    Is that correct?

Just to make sure: the URLs that were reported as broken are links to PDFs listed in “Idaho Medicaid Provider Handbooks” section, right?

If yes, let me ask additionally:

    1) I see that those PDFs are under the same domain as linking site so you are hosting them locally to the site?

    2) do you have any kind of firewall/security plugin and/or server-level feature active and if yes, what is it?

    3) you mentioned that those URLs were reported as broken and were striked-through on front-end but what was their status in back-end?

By this I mean them being listed as broken on the “”Link Checker -> Local (old) -> Broken Links” page; there’s a “Status” column which should be giving some error code (like e.g. 404 Not Found, 403 Forbidden or similar) – what’s that status for such links ?

    4. and on the very same page/list, if you click on “Details” link (visible on hover) below that status, what does it show in “Log” column?

    Let us know please.

    Best regards,
    Adam
