• Nice plug-in, but it would be perfect if it could check availability of products in particular territories.

To give an example, the item with ASIN B01J3DBH5Q is only available through the US store. If I have the plugin set to automatically adjust links to suit the viewer’s location, it changes it to – say – the UK store… which doesn’t stock the item.

Is there a way this could be rectified, or for a per-link “only use this territory, don’t automatically change it” option to be added?

  • The best way to remedy this is to check your ASIN on a few Amazon stores before embedding it in your post. It takes a little longer, but 99% of the time I can find ASIN that’s available on all Amazon stores.

I think a good feature for the future of this plugin is to allow separate ASIN numbers for different countries. It would still take a little bit of extra work for initial posting, but much less time than finding a single ASIN that works universally.

I think a better solution is geolocated Search sorted by best average customer reviews (min 10 reviews). That way you should almost always find good quality products for you customer in most territories. Downside is it’s not a multilingual solution but okay for UK, US, Canada, Australia and India … which is pretty good!

    Hi,

Sorry not seen this thread before, all the options in the admin section are available in the shortcode so:

To enable/disable the ‘Localise Amazon Link’ option, add localise=0 to the shortcode to disable localisation, and use you default locale.

    e.g.

    [amazon asin=B01J3DBH5Q&localise=0&template=thumbnail]

To force the plugin to provide ‘Create Search Links’ to a product, add search_links to the shortcode.

    e.g.

    [amazon asin=B005FLARMA&search_link=1&text=Courageous DVD&title=Courageous]

To set the ASIN by country you need to add the Country Code after the asin e.g. asin[uk]=0123456789

    e.g.

    [amazon asin=0340937688&asin[de]=3548606296&asin[fr]=2757866656&asin[us]=0399594000&template=wishlist]

    Hope this helps,

    Paul
