• After uploading a new image via the Media library, all the images related to posts have been broken. The hard links still work, but when they are tied to a post they no longer work. I’ve checked the code and it looks like it’s confusing the page link with the image link.

What do I need to do?

    Here’s the site: https://www.thebritishhistorypodcast.com

  • I’m sorry but as you are using a commercial theme, you need to seek support from the theme’s developer/vendor. We do not support commercial themes here.

That theme has been working for over a year and I’ve had no trouble. Also, I switched to Twenty Twelve just to check… and the images are still broken. So what’s the deal?

Try checking your site’s error logs for likely error message. Your host should be able to help you in accessing your site’s error logs.

This is an internal WordPress thing, not a hosting matter. The images are accessible via direct link. It’s the wordpress code that’s hiccupping somewhere.

For example, if you go to https://thebritishhistorypodcast.com/?p=1078

And then right-click the image and copy image URL, here’s what you get “https://thebritishhistorypodcast.com/?p=1078”

    You should be getting “https://thebritishhistorypodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/cerdic-231×300.jpg”

This isn’t Hosting or Theme related. And when I switch to Twenty Twelve, there’s no resizing or cropping of the related images. It looks like WordPress isn’t handling the images properly. Check the source if you don’t believe me.

Try checking your site’s error logs for likely error message. To the best of my knowledge, your current theme does not use the standard WordPress functions for implementing post images. Without something more definitive in the way of a diagnostic error message or an examination of the site using the default WordPress theme & no plugins, there is nothing we can do to help you.

Well, it’s Jetpack related. The latest version of Jetpack broke the images, and when I disabled it, the images returned.

And if you’d have checked your error logs as suggested, we would probably have found that out 20 minutes ago. Your theme may be conflicting with Jetpack.
