Hello, I have been using forminator for quite some time now and ever since the most recent updates (1.32.0 & 1.33.0), my forms have been broken for various reasons.

For example in 1.32.0, the united states number was presented with the Ukraine flag and when placeholders for dropdowns where put in place, the first option would be pre-selected, even though no option was pre-selected in the form settings.

In the most recent update (1.33.0), conditional logic to radio selection is not respected, so the user would have to select every option, even though it doesn’t apply to their needs, in order to continue into the next step.

I also have auto updates disabled and both times the plugin has updated itself, causing me to have to revert to the 1.31.0 version in order to keep my forms operational.

Please, if there’s anything that can be done to avoid automatic updates and for future updates, respect current form settings as to not break them to implement additional settings.

    Hi @hilltoprunner

    I hope you’re well today!

As for the radio buttons issue:

Yes, we are aware of this. It’s a bug that was, unfortunately, identified already after 1.33 version release. Our developers are already working on it and should release fix soon (though I don’t have ETA yet).

I’m afraid for now I can only suggest keeping plugin downgraded until new version (containing the fix) is released. I’m sincerely sorry for the trouble that it causes.

As for the flag issue in 1.32 version:

I just downgraded my install to 1.32 version and tested it but I can’t replicate that issue. To make sure:

    – this is happening for you with the phone field set to “International” validation, right? Or “National” set to “United States”?

    – since you wnet through 1.31, 1.32 and 1.33 version – is it happening only in 1.32 for you?

    – do you have any kind of additional custom code (like some PHP or JS code) related to Forminator Forms on site?

    – what theme (and in what version) are you using?

    Let us know, please.

    As for automatic update:

Forminator does not have any feature/code built-in that would be able to automatically update it. If it gets automatically updated there must be some additional factor involved.

Do you by any chance have your WordPress installed/managed by the Installatron tool provided by your host?

If yes, that would explain it. It’s not a bug in Forminator but there is, unfortunately, an issue with Installatron installs that causes this. It’s directly related to how Installatron works – apparently it actually ignores WordPress core update mechanisms and preforms updates completely “on its own” but it has some glitches in a way it recognizes plugins and updates availability.

Our developers are working on a workaround; it was supposed to be already released but there turned out to be some setbacks due to how Installatron works so while it’s “on the table”, I don’t have ETA.

If that’s the case, the only thing I can suggest at this point would be to either completely disable all the automatic updates in Installatron if possible or, unfortunately, keep downgrading plugin manually until the workaround is released.

    Kind regards,
    Adam

Hello, and thank you for such an informative reply, I highly appreciate it.

As for the radio buttons issue:

    • Thank you for that confirmation, I look forward to the fix in a future update.

As for the flag issue in 1.32 version:

    – this is happening for you with the phone field set to “International” validation, right? Or “National” set to “United States”??

    • I have it set to international validation correct.

    – since you wnet through 1.31, 1.32 and 1.33 version – is it happening only in 1.32 for you??

    • I’m afraid I didn’t test it version by version as it’s a live site and was just working on getting the version downgraded to fix the issue with the radio buttons causing the form to not work as intended. I’m sorry I couldn’t offer better feedback for this.

    – do you have any kind of additional custom code (like some PHP or JS code) related to Forminator Forms on site?

    • I have some PHP code created by the devs to help translated forms submit with when the agreement has been checked, allowing the form to be submitted when auto completing phone numbers and their country codes, and a custom redirect after form submission also created by the devs.

    – what theme (and in what version) are you using?

    • I’m using Divi version (version 4.26.0) with the Forminator shortcode.

    As for automatic update:

    • I apologize about this, after doing some more research, I found that the updates were being performed automatically every 24 hours via my cPanel. I’ve since fixed this and the plugin has remained on version 1.31.0. I’m sorry for my ignorance and blaming this on the plugin. That was not the case.

I look forward to hearing from you soon regarding any updates on the recent bugs found in the last update. All the best to you and the team and again, thanks for the clear response.

    Hi @hilltoprunner

Thank you for response and I’m glad that auto-update issue is solved now.

Getting back to that flag problem then:

I tried to replicate it again. I specifically used Divi and I tried with different phone field settings in different browsers. Still no luck – I couldn’t replicate and it worked fine.

I’m sure there is some reason for that but I’m still not sure what that reason is. You mentioned some custom code that is related to phone field and another one to translations. Have you had a chance, perhaps, to test with those code temporarily disabled? Or maybe you could just share those custom code so we could test on our end?

    Best regards,
    Adam
