A feed is a stream of data designed to be read in feed reader, like https://www.rssowl.org/ or https://newsblur.com/ and not in a browser.

If I remember correctly you used to be able to use that url to add the feed to Outook too, though. I remember being able to click on a link to the feed and it would open a window in Outlook asking if I wanted to add it?

Probably, lots of email programs at one time supported RSS feeds, but some removed the capability recently, like Apple’s Mail app.

That would have been a setting either in Windows or your web browser. As a Mac user myself, I don’t know the specifics under Windows for this, but it is a system-level or browser-level configuration for sure, not something you could ever configure in WordPress.

I guess it’s not that big of a deal since I want other people to subscribe, not myself. Looks like feedburner is the way to go, to make it easier, from what I’ve been reading.

Generally, the folks who want to subscribe to your RSS feed already know how to subscribe to RSS feeds. ??

These days, folks tend to subscribe via more social methods, so you might want to look into auto-posting to Twitter and Facebook too.

Yeah I know that. Ive been doing facebook for years and recently started Google+ It used to be a site for my business with occasional blogs. Now I’m taking it in a completely different direction and making it primarily a blog. Just trying to find an easy way to get subscribers to the blog itself. There’s a few free plugins I’ve found for doing that, but it seems like feedburner is the best option.
