• WordPress Version: 4.8
    Plugin Version: 1.1.0
Was this an install or update of the plugin: Update
Theme and version: Doesn’t matter, happens to any and all.

I’ve been using the plugin for some time but the past few updates (since the major change) has broken my site. The current update disables my use of the Appearance-Customize menu pulling a blank page. This happens with all themes. The only difference I can find is the WordPress version. I have another site that has not been updated to the newest WP version. It works, however I can not enable the plugin on the 4.8 version without it removing my Customize screen.

    Please help.

  • Maybe it is a specific widget you are using? I only have google ads in my widgets on pages and don’t have any trouble.

Both sites are for the most part identical for the exceptions of the WP version & theme. How I use W-o-P is also identical.

Hi @nppbc, so sorry to hear you’re having issues.
I’ve also not been able to replicate the issue I think you’re seeing… would you be able to share the name of the theme(s) you’re using? And maybe also list any other widget/sidebar plugins that have installed?

Still no luck. Once again, Disabling the widget fixes the issue but it also pushes all of my WoP off of my Widget area. This means I have to put them all back when I make the plugin active again.
My server had a major outage and during this time a lot of things happened. Lost files, settings changed (php) and many more things. I was also able to disable all of my plugins again and leave WoP active, it still didn’t work.
I just don’t know what else it could be other than a glitch in my WP install itself.

How very odd @nppbc… erm maybe one more question, what user type are you using when you have issues with the customiser… “Admin”, “Editor”, etc?

    Thread Starter nppbc

    (@nppbc)

It’s very odd indeed. I use the admin.
Just throwing this out there, maybe it could help? As I mentioned before about the server problem, this was a huge outage. What it was or how it happened is still in question. What I do know is that it affected several other plugins once they got the sites back up and running.
All-in-One Event Calendar, Webtrees, NextGen Gallery & you guessed it, Widgets on Pages.
First it was the iConv extension (php) that was missing, then max upload size was way too low. I’m sure there was other things too that haven’t been said.
BUT, the issue that I haven been having is a prior issue to the outage. I’m just wondering if it has something to do with a setting for that particular WP install. BTW-I’m on a shared server.

I turned on WP debug mode. This is one fatal error that I discovered:(I removed the beginning link). This may not have anything to do with it but I thought I’d pass it along. This is after the update.
Fatal error: Call to a member function preview() on null in */wp-includes/class-wp-customize-widgets.php on line 529
