• After hours/days/weeks of pain from Brinkster. I have concluded to reinstall my blog on mysql4.

I have reached the point of installing the latest version of Word Press, and I have installed my theme folder.

I can choose my original theme, when I do, I can see that everything is as it was. But when I choose that, it still appears as a brand new blog, with none of my theme and settings, posts, etc.

I have followed and followed the upgrading instructions, and the loose guidelines that Brinkster have provided me since this whole screw up happened.

Can someone PLEASE help me? My podcast is very popular these days, and my listeners are really wondering what’s up. I’ll be glad to plug your site/podcast/etc. on our show, if you can help me get back up.

    Thanks a million
    Dave

I’m making a bit of progress. I just need to figure out how to get my old blog posts back into the blog?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks again!

Confused by your initial statement. If you look via one theme, you see everything, if you look via another, nothing?

You installed new. Did you point to the original database tables? If not pointing to the data, obviously would end up with a ‘clean’ blog.

    Hello,

sorry to post here. it’s not a reply for your post. i could not find a place to post a new thread on this.

    i have two questions

    1. I am new – sorry for my ignorance. i tried to post a blog on blog search engine. when i login it ask for profile update. but when i submit it does not accept???

what is ICQ, AIM, MSN IM, Yahoo IM on the profile???

    2. How do i post a new thread on wordpress forum? i could not find any link??

    1> no idea.
2> from support homepage, go to bottom: there’s a list of forum sections. click the most appropriate. on the bottom of THAT page is a form to add a new topic to that forum area.

    Hi again:
I was able to get my blog back in place: https://www.twoboobsandababy.com/index2.php
But it appears that my database was corrupted. Are there any other files that I can try to use to find the posts? r if the db is dead, then am I too?

    do you have a backup?
i successfully migrated the old posts from an old 1.2 database to 2.0.2, using sql techniques. but you have to be able to read the db! you could reinstall the backup in a new database and move them– delicately and carefully– that is what i did. it was not easy.
also have you tried repairing the db with the mysql functions? if you have admin access you can do that.

I wasn’t able to use the backup Brinkster had. It had some how become corrupted. So I had to start from scratch. A big pain, but it’s been done now.

    Here’s the update though…

I reinstalled everything, and now keep getting database errors from time to time (at least several times a day that I know of).

I contacted Brinkster to find out when the new MySql5 server will be in place. They told me 2 weeks. They told me 2 weeks, 2 weeks ago!

Now we’re looking for August 1. Still no updates from Brinkster, I had to find out this information myself by asking.

Usually their customer service has been great, but I’m having serious second thoughts on whether to continue my service (and my clients services) with them.

I also plan to spread the word to any potential future Brinkster customers, but I will hold off to see if they stay true to their word for the August 1st deadline.

To be continued (I hope it’s a happy ending!).

    Cheers,
    Dave
