• Not sure how to word this but I would like to have a brief post entry and then have the individual reader click on a continue link if they are interested in the subject. In other words, I’d like to only have post briefs showing so the viewers don’t have to scroll through the whole subject in order to see what other post subjects are available. I’ve seen this on other sites but don’t know how they do this. Can anyone help?
    Thanks

  • You need to either upse excerpts for your posts, or use <!--more--> in the posts content to create the end point.

Here’s a great video that explains what Michael just mentioned – https://wordpress.tv/2009/01/14/creating-a-post-excerpt-using-the-more-tag/

Thank you both. I have my blog page which displays the complete posts. I don’t want another page per se (like the first page) with the excerpts; what I want is the excerpt on the actual blog page with the complete write up somewhere else. I want readers to be able to scroll very quickly through my blog excerpts and only read the ones that interest them. Is this possible? Or do I have to set up an entire page with the full content? Are you saying I have to have a separate page devoted just to excerpts?
