Breaks wordpress upgrade page

  • I have NextGen Image gallery installed and activated but when I
    https://www.example.com/wp-admin/update-core.php
    I get the error:
    You are not allowed to call this page directly.

    If I disable NextGen, the error message goes away.

    I would love a resolution because my client does not know / does not want to learn how to enable and disable plugins.
