• I have the same issue reported here.

I have been through the whole “disable all plugins, re-enable one by one” business, and this is definitely the culprit.

I have a possibly unusual case, however: I am using the BP Groups Hierarchy with patches by @r-a-y located here. I used that one (instead of the one here on WP.org) because it was recommended that I apply all the patches for the BP Group Hierarchy plugin….and a helpful soul over at the CBOX support forum informed me that @r-a-y had combined them all into one fork.

I will report this issue on github as well, and hopefully there will be some movement to fix it, or consolidate all the patches into a single fix that works. This is obviously a much appreciated plugin, so it would be great to have it fully functional and supported.

    Thanks!

Well scratch that…the github page just refers back here, so I guess I’m reporting the problem here. ??

    I didn’t give details above, so….

The problem affects the “group members” count that appears for every member group — both on the main page of groups, and on the group’s own menu (e.g., Group Members: 152). These counts go to 0 (zero) when the BPGH plugin (or in my case, the forked version) is activated.

The problem extends to the display of group admins and mods — my theme shows the admin and mod pictures at the top of the group page normally, but with BPGH activated, it says “No Admins” and “No Mods”.

All the group members, including their status as admins and mods, is actually intact, but BP no longer “sees” them.

This all happens with BP versions after 2.6.3. For this reason, I have not been able to update BP since then (sorry, didn’t have time to troubleshoot it in earnest until now!). When I update, the counts go away. When I rollback, it’s all fine.

I should also mention that I’m experiencing this on a multisite, where BP is network-activated, and the root blog is defined (i.e., define(‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, 20); in wp-config.php). I have tested it with BPGH activated only on the sub-site (root site) and also network-activated, and the problem is the same either way.

@r-a-y, can you please advise? I see that someone else has created a similar plugin, but my site is already built around BPGH, so it seems like getting this one fixed up and working properly would be most advantageous.

The hierarchical functionality is very important to my company’s website. With this part broken, it has become difficult to maintain the site with optimum plugins across the board, since I can’t update BuddyPress to the latest version. So any help would be deeply appreciated.

    Thanks so much.
