Starting with 14.1, random links in the breadcrumb that go 3-4 levels down will point to “localhost”. On the local installation of the site, where the root is “https://localhost:8888/”, the broken links still point to “localhost”, instead of “localhost:8888”. On the live development link, it points to “localhost” as well.

I reverted back to 13.4 and the issue was resolved. Any thoughts?

    Hello @mcwu

Could you please check if updating to the latest version of v14.2 of the Yoast SEO for WordPress plugin resolves your issue with the breadcrumbs?

v14.2 was when I first noticed the issued. Backtrack to the 14 and still had the issue. Wasn’t until I went back to v13 that the issue no longer occured.

Updated to the latest version , the same issue

I will convert to anothe plugin, this is the second problem with yoast with no solution

    Hello @mcwu and @ali2ali

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused where there are items on the production website that are still referencing to the staging site. There’s an open bug report which we have reported and added this thread as a reference.

As a workaround, could you please try the following steps:
    1. Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools -> Yoast Test
    3. Hit the “Reset indexables & migrations” button
    4. Delete your current Yoast SEO plugin installation.
    5. Re-install Yoast SEO 14.2
    6. Click the “Click here to speed up your site now” button.

Can you please let us know if this then fixes the issues with the breadcrumbs?

I have several subdomains on different cities on my site. The same problem. it remembers the first domain you entered after reindexing and shows on all other cities a link to the first .. even after Yoast Test Helper. Please tell me whether it is possible to somehow disable this new function that would be like on the old version 13 …

    also on 14.2 ver

I tried the steps mentioned and the issue still remains, except now all of the breadcrumbs link to “localhost” versus just some of the links.

@siteussia Unfortunately no there isn’t a way to disable this. If you are still experiencing the issue after using the Yoast Test Helper plugin and resetting, we expect this to be a bug. We’re actively using the bug tracking on our GitHub repository so your best next step would be to create a new issue for our developers at https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/new. You will need an account to create a new issue. If this is your first bug report, please check out: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-write-a-good-bug-report/.

We have the same problem – after updating Yoast SEO (free) the breadcrumbs link to localhost/ rather than to the root domain on all sites that have updated Yoast to 14.2 / 14.3. I carried out all the steps above (using Yoast Test Helper Plugin) but it did not fix the problem. I had to replace the installation with 13.2 which was the only older local copy I could find. The breadcrumbs work again after downgrading the version.
