• I’m another new user trying to install WordPress on Bravenet. I’ve followed the instructions on setting up an FTP client (Filezilla) and a MySQL database related to my site. I followed the instructions as closely as I could, but I still get the following at /wp-admin/install.php:

    Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at ——-. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?

I have gotten this message with every variation of the wp-config.php file I’ve tried. I’ve tried “localhost”. I’ve tried the “—-bravehost.com” from my account page. I’ve tried the database name plain and with the bravehost extension. I’ve tried installing a second MySQL database, but Filezilla doesn’t recognize it. In short, I’ve run through all the variables suggested on other Bravenet posts in this forum.
What’s going on and is there anyway to fix it?
    Thanks in advance.
    Jean Marie
