BPS does not block activities. We have a BuddyPress/bbPress Forum and are not experiencing this problem or any other problems with BPS and BuddyPress/bbPress.

From the troubleshooting steps that you have done you have already eliminated that BPS is the cause of the problem. The BPS plugin files themselves (just having BPS installed) would not have any effect or block anything about BuddyPress/bbPress. Only the .htaccess files could cause any sort of issues with BuddyPress/bbPress and as i stated above we have a BuddyPress/bbPress Forum site and do not have any issues or problems.

This actually looks like a feature that is pending (note: this Forum topic is over 2 years old so maybe this issue is now not an issue anymore) – https://buddypress.org/support/topic/private-hidden-groups-friends-activity-stream/

Have you double checked your BuddyPress settings?

    Settings >>> BuddyPress >>> Components / Pages / Settings / Forums

    Thanks for your reply!

Your answer reflects my understanding of what BPS does, which is why I was baffled by the unexpected outcome.

The old thread seems to have kind of the opposite problem, hidden content is shown when it should not be.

My BP settings are fine. The site has been live for 9 months with some hundreds daily users.

Quite possibly the error stems from something else that just occurred at the time I worked with BPS.

I’m marking this thread as resolved even though the error persists as I don’t think that BPS is the cause. If I find out the contrary i will reopen it.

    Cheers

We did actually find another issue recently – BPS is blocking the Compose Message autocomplete from displaying the autocomplete list >>> https://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/bulletproof-security-buddypress-compose-message-autocomplete/
