Boxed Layout No Longer Working

I am using the make theme to create a design with a custom background. I was using the boxed layout style as it creates a border of the background around the content. I updated the theme a day or so ago, and since the update the boxed layout option is no longer working for the site.

I have also been editing some of the code directly, so it may have been something I did that caused it to stop working correctly. I have made changes to the style sheet to attempt to fix the problem, and it works for the main column but not for the footer. I also made changes to the header in an attempt to let the background show around the logo while keeping a slightly opaque white background behind my tagline and nav bar. All this has done for me is create separate white boxes around the tagline and nav bar.

I have attempted to redo the layout entirely in a child theme, but even there the boxed layout style isn’t working as it did before.

I am unsure what to do next and afraid to mess it up further, so any help is greatly appreciated.
