• Hey,

i was using wordfence for some days now and set it up on my main domain and subdomain. so far i am really happy with it i didn’t get any brute force attacks so far but in live traffic i do really get alot of bots they are always in diffrent country’s and always go on pages wp-login , xmlrpc and robots txt .

is this something i should worry about ? should i block these. it is really alot of hits every hour. no brute force attack but always the gray bot ones.

    what should i do ?
    Thanks
    Dieter

  • Join the club. I got nothing but bots and chasing them is a full time job I would rather not have to monitor.
I find Wordfence at least gives you the data to work with, wp-login is a national disgrace to protect, WordPress itself, had better think of a better alternative to logging in webmasters.
It seems 2 step verification -sending you a text message is very popular with yahoo, and other sites.

I got tons of bots from the USA and I am in Canada. If I could block the ENTIRE USA I would, but then I would block Google and that’s not good.
Wordfence is the best I’ve seen in 7 years of battling hackers.
Welcome to the world of hacking, it is everywhere, anytime at any place.

Indeed, get used to it. While certain high profile organizations and individuals appear to be the ones who are attacked by cyber criminals, it’s actually the entire internet that is under siege. Thankfully we have Wordfence and others on the case, but the criminals are clearly winning. I am optimistic that will change. To make that happen we all need to support our favorite security plugins financially. MTN
