• I’m having the same issues as it seems others are having:

    1. Can’t use Quick Edit on the Posts page;
    2. On any Edit Post page, can’t switch from Visual to HTML;
    3. Visual appears as a white box in which I can’t click, but upon highlighting it’s revealed to be all HTML in white letters on a white background, which is actually kind of fun, like hunting polar bears in thick fog;
    4. Can’t add or edit images;
    5. Can’t add or edit video;
    6. Can’t add tags;
    7. Can’t edit permalink.

    And, like other users, I’ve tried everything in the sticky plus a few more things:

    1. Turning off all plugins;
    2. Switching to Twenty Eleven;
    3. Resetting plugins via FTP;
    4. Clearing cache/cookies in all browsers;
    5. Trying four different browsers;
    6. Opening a support ticket with my awesome hosting company, who unfortunately have no idea what I should do;
    7. Laughing hysterically;
    8. Praying to Cthulhu;
    9. Eating too much butter pecan ice cream.

    And tragically, today’s fresh install of 3.2.1 didn’t help.

    Any fresh ideas? I’ll take ’em!

  • I’m currently enjoying issue number 3 above. Hopefully we get a hotfix because this is awfully annoying. Oddly, it only appeared some time *after* I updated to 3.2.1. Guess I’ll be keeping my other blogs on an earlier version…

    EDIT: I should mention that my server meets the requirements and the Hotfix plugin didn’t help.

    UPDATED:

    I’ve also tried a couple of new things:

    1. Doing a manual reinstall of 3.2.1, overwriting previous files, and
    2. Crying.

    I think my next step will be to ask my host if they can “downgrade” me from 3.2.1 back to 3.1.whateveritwas. Just because things are broken, and I’d like them not to be, again.

    Has anyone experienced this and not been able to fix it with the standard “cures”? Because they are really not working for me. :′(

    UPDATED: Here’s a screenshot of what my UI is like, though this picture can’t really show you that most of the visual editor components aren’t clickable/interactive at all.

    I thought I’d also say that the four browsers I’ve tried were Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and IE. I wish the tactics that are working for other people (clearing cache/cookies, disabling plugins, changing themes) would work for me! I just don’t understand why I can’t get my UI back.

    UPDATED: My host suggested I do a reinstall using their c-panel, so I did that too. Didn’t fix the UI issues. I’m just going to keep trying things that don’t work and listing them here until I figure this out….

    I share your pain…
    I tried everything that you mention and still having problems.
    My guess is my dashboard is having some issues with javascript.
    I tried to reinstall turn off al plugins, etc, etc and nothing…
    I will keep on trying otherwise I will downgrade and learn my lesson: never update without asking other is everything is working!

    diegoedel, I finally “solved” my issues by going back to 3.1.4. Not the ideal solution, but at least I have a working blog again! Good luck to you–

    Same problem here.

    I moved my entire wordpress directory, and downloaded the latest 3.2.1.

    Keeping the stock 3.2.1, I loaded the webpage, and had it create a new wp-config.php. Blog works fine, but I cannot add or change tags to posts. I use tags pretty extensively, so this breaks the usefulness of my blog.

    What are the next steps? Should I downgrade to 3.1.4 like others?

    Do I have to downgrade too? Coz I’ve got completely the same problems as the lycanthropia and can’t get a move on.
    Also, it seems to be quite common issue.
    How come WP would let out such a buggy release???

    Hi

    Having exactly the same problems!!!

    Completely messed up my site.

    ??

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    I have been having these issues as well and then some. Everything worked fine until I upgraded to the new version.

    In addition to what has been talked about here so far, I can’t drag and drop my widgets and I cant highlight a block of text and link it to a website. My entire screen goes black and I have to close out of it entirely.

    Ok, deactivating the plugins worked. Now I just need to go through and find out which one! Thank you!

    The plugin that was messing with my site was wp time machine, in case anybody else has it.

    Esmi, did you read my OP? Yes, I tried those things. I wound up having to go back to 3.1.4. I would like to run 3.3.1 for security reasons, but just test-drove it on a blog I don’t use anymore, and all the same things happened. I’m distinctly unimpressed.

    @lycanthropia: You mean the one from 5 months ago? Oh please be serious! FWIW, I’m running 3.3.1 on around 12 different sites and I don’t have a problem on any of them. So your 5 month old issues appear to be specific to your site.
