Booking Event After Start – Are started events bookable?

So I turned on the option for being able to book into events after they have started but I can’t do it as the session drops off the calendar once it has started.
I have also purchased the ORDER FOR CUSTOMERS license so that the admins can do it but we can’t do it either as we also can’t see the event on the calendar anymore.
Is it something that needs setting in the calendar display?
