• I love this plugin. I use it a lot. I want to do more with it and have been trying to extend it to enable a book-like navigation.

So, I’m wondering, if it is possible to create a book-like presentation like the on here: https://www.onlinemba.com/guide/, using your plugin.

    Presentation like this: https://screencast.com/t/CFDnzjBU
End of each chapter like this: https://screencast.com/t/S24gAjIE4

    ______________

A simpler question. If the post IDs are out of sync, what is the simplest way to get them in the order that I want them. I mean if Chapter 1 has a post id of 200 and Chapter 2 has one of 100, and chapter 3 has a post id of 150. I either cut ‘n paste the content in

    Chapter 1 – post id 100
    Chapter 2 – post id 150
    Chapter 3 – post id 200

But then that becomes a hassle if I need to insert a new chapter.

I am not able to get Order by Menu. Not sure how the plugin knows what menu to use, for one thing.

And, in the alternate I have the same issue with Order by Meta or Meta Numeric Value. What meta value does one use? And how does the plugin know what look for?

Lastly, is there extended documentation somewhere?

    Regards,

    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

    Thanks for using the plugin.

To create the referred template, you will need to create multiple lists, and add the chapter name above each list. Then to define the posts for the chapter, you can either enter post id manually, or can use a custom field. Like: “chapter_number” = “1”, “chapter_number” = “2”. On the list options page, there’s an option to filter posts by meta_value/custom field (Posts: Meta Query).

You don’t need to rewrite posts to maintain order. Just use a custom field, ex: “position” = “1”, “position” = “2”. And then on the post orderby field(Posts: – Orderby – Meta numeric value), chose order by meta numeric value, and enter “position” as meta key:.

The plugin doesn’t assume automatically which meta field to use for order, rather you enter it on the list options page.

However, you can not create the next|prev chapter links with our plugin, as it doesn’t allow any dynamic condition.

Moreover, there’s isn’t any extended documentation, the only thing that we have is integrated within the plugin (On your wp-admin plugin menu).

I am not so good in writing things up, but i can provide you support by creating your desired list on your site if needed. Just mail me on the email address found on the plugin documentation page, and i will be there to help.

    Thanks.
