The only way to get the missing covers to show is by freshly uploading them, not simply setting them to already existing media files.

We just released an update that fixes this bug. The issue is an incompatibility with old versions of WordPress, so you can also update your WordPress to address the issue.

Update installed. I’d already uploaded new cover images, so can’t comment on it working correctly now. Sorry, but thanks for fixing it! =)

Just to note though, I am using WordPress 4.4.1, and that seems to be the latest version.

    Okay, brain scratcher happening.

I bought the developer license, so have MyBookTable installed on 3 different sites. All 3 are updated to latest WordPress(4.4.1), and I just did the MyBookTable update for a 2nd site.

Same issue occurred. The plugin version is showing Version 2.2.1 on both sites (the first site I updated the plugin on, as of seeing your response and checking for the fix update, and the current site that’s now having the display issue).

4 out of 6 “larger” cover images missing, but their thumbnails continue to display fine.

Current site with the issue: https://discordjones.com/the-books/

When I inspect the code on the book listing page, the existing image link is there, but defaulting to the placeholder image for some reason.

    <img itemprop="image" alt="Arcane Solutions" class=" mbt-book-image" sizes="35vw" src="https://discordjones.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/AS_web600a-266x400.jpg" srcset="https://discordjones.com/wp-content/plugins/mybooktable/images/book-placeholder.jpg 400w"> (hope I did that right)

I’m experiencing the same problem with the latest version (2.2.1) on two sites. They’re both running the latest version of WordPress. The problem only occurs for some books (from what I can tell, the older the book post, the more likely the problem will occur).

I already reported the problem to support (I own the developer version), but thought I’d let Scath know s/he’s not going nuts. It’s good to know that uploading fresh images will “fix” it, but I don’t like having duplicate images in the media library (I use the existing book cover images in other places). Hoping for a fix soon.

    Thanks, sjedev! (and I’m a she) ??

I’m not a fan of duplicate images in my media library either.

And yes, it seems to only be affecting books set up before May 17, 2015 (at least on my sites).

Hm, it’s possible my Dev plugin hasn’t updated. I don’t seem to have the added options shown, like grid view, or “notify me” buttons.

    MyBookTable Developer Add-on Version 1.2.9

Which is strange, because wasn’t that one of the updates today?

Never mind, it is updated, according to the version being 1.2.8 on the site I haven’t run the updates for yet. But I still don’t have the options I should for it.

You developer add-on version is correct, the version number between the Add-on and the main plugin are not intended to be the same.

We have been continuing to investigate this and we have not been able to reproduce this issue on any sites that have MyBookTable 2.2.1 and WordPress 4.4.1. If you are sure these are the versions you are running, could you send me links to your site so that I can investigate further?

Sure thing. First, I somehow missed out on seeing that the developer plugin required new purchase for 2.0. That has been corrected through premium support, and I DO have the following installed on all 3 sites now:

    MyBookTable Bookstore Version 2.2.1
MyBookTable Developer Upgrade 2.0 Version 2.1.0
And yes, WordPress 4.4.1 on all 3 sites.

The 2 sites that the missing cover issue is present on are:

    https://discordjones.com/the-books/
    https://katarrkanticlespress.com/

    (@scath)

That 2nd site I linked, I upgraded to MyBookTable Developer Upgrade 2.0 Version 2.1.0 before I updated the MyBookTable plugin to Version 2.2.1.

The last books listed show cover images, those listed December 5, 2014 or earlier seem to have lost theirs.

    Here are my sites:

    https://www.sarahettritch.com
    https://www.nornpublishing.com

Both are missing covers on SOME book pages.

    For both:
    WordPress: 4.4.1
    MyBookTable: 2.2.1
    MyBookTable Developer Upgrade 2.0: 2.1.0

We’ve come up with an experimental version of MyBookTable with some changes that may fix this issue, if it is caused by what we are guessing it is. We have no way of testing this out since we don’t have access to any sites that are exhibiting this behavior, you should be able to let us know if it works for you. Simply deactivate your current MyBookTable install and install and activate this one: https://api.authormedia.com/wp-content/uploads/amapi_updates/mybooktable/mybooktable.bugfix.zip. Your books, settings, and other data will not be affected.

The experimental version fixed the problem for me on both sites, so you guessed correctly (for my sites, anyway).

Out of curiosity, what’s causing the problem?

    (@scath)

Boom! That fixed it! Thanks! =)
