• I have been using the Classic Editor plug-in since it was introduced, but in the past week it has started defaulting to the “text” tab of the body text input screen.

I appreciate it’s a minor issue, but means I have to select the “visual” tab every time I add new content.

I haven’t been able to find a setting that could cause this; so is there a fix that will make my life marginally easier?

  • Hi @graemetic is there anything you worked on prior to that, that might have caused the issue?

Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.
If you are worried about how your site will look when you deactivate the plugin, you can use the Health Check plugin to troubleshoot your site Health Check.

Various changes were made during work to make the site GDPR compliant to Googlem AdSense’s standard’s, but nothing that should have affected the Classic Editor.

I tried deactivating, deleteing and reinstalling it, and ever trried an alternative classic seditor puilug-in, but it still deafults to text input screen.

I’m afraid that has led me to experiment with the blocks editor instead and I’m finding I can do what I need to do – progress I suppose!
