Those photos aren’t 900×600, they’re 3885×5827 and the web browser is resizing them. That leads to image degradation.

Try replacing them with smaller resolution versions. Those images will look nicer and the web site will load much faster too.

Yes, those photos are 3885×5827. I did that post as a test, and the photos look nicer at that size. It must have been a fluke because I tried it again it it went right back to being blurry.

I just uploaded a photo to the blog (size 900×600) as a TEST, and the photo look terrible!!!! ?? Take a look at it now:: https://bonnieherschmillerphotography-children.com/test/

Now what do I do to fix this problem???

First of all, let me say that I like the theme design and you have some nice photos…. but:

You are not formatting the images properly for the internet & you have way too much content loading on the homepage.

For example, one of the images (https://bonnieherschmillerphotography-children.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/31.jpg) is actually 3885×5827. That is huge and completely unacceptable for a website.

It is painfully slow, and won’t even load all the way for me; I have a 35+ Mbps download speed.

Optimize your images for the web (ex: slight compression & not so large) and then only have a couple posts, maybe a slider, or use excerpts instead of the entire post for your homepage.

I dont have this problem with my other wordpress blog. I always upload my images 900×600 and they always look fabulous! I am having alot of trouble uploading onto this wordpress blog for some reason and I am not doing anthing different than what I have always done with my other blog. (yes, you can see that I have uploaded VERY large images… That is my testing and trying to figure out this problem.

Infact, I have taken the html code and placed it in my other blog, and photos that come up as blurry on this blog is very nice and normal on the other. Here is the link to my other blog, and I have no troubles with it.

I am stumped, and hope you can help me out!!

On the new blog have you tried:

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

See if that improves the situation, in case it’s a software conflict.

BUT… My guess is that it’s the image size and probably the software settings that you are using to edit the images.

On the other you are using 900px width images that were resized using Photoshop CS5. Those look swell.

On the problem blog you are using huge images that the browser re-sizes. You saved them using Photoshop Elements 6 and uploaded them full size. And also takes about 4 to 6 hours to download. Those images are HUGE.

If you want them to look better, don’t let the browser handle the resizing. Let Photoshop do it’s job and resize the images in Photoshop before uploading.

Sounds good. I have made the images 800px width and is now working great. I would rather my images be 900px because I like larger photos. Is there a way to switch the settings on my theme to let me upload 900px images and not have them blur out or do I have to stick with them being 800px width?

Not sure about the theme settings as that’s a commercial theme.

I think the setting you want is located at…

    https://www.bonnieherschmillerphotography-children.com/wp-admin/options-media.php

But that’s a guess on my part as I don’t use WordPress’s image rescaling capabilities… I always size up my images in advance before uploading them into a post.

We just started a website and are having problems with blurry images as well, specifically within the tiles, but when you click on the image, it is beautiful. Any advice for how to make it so that the tile images aren’t blurry anymore?

Here is our site (not done yet):

    https://colombiangirljewelry.com/shop

The first tiled image is blurry, you click on it and get another blurry image, and then the last time you click on it, you get a nice perfect quality image. What am I doing wrong?
