I am having a frustrating problem with my photo galleries where some images look blurry in the tiled mosaic gallery AND in the carousel view, but look nice and sharp when I click “view full size” inside the carousel view.

I upload my images with the longest side sized at 2000px long, which should be a nice balance between high quality and keeping the file size down for loading, but I notice that when I right click on the blurry images in the tiled mosaic gallery and select “Open Image in New Tab” it shows the dimensions smaller. This leads me to believe that Jetpack is downsizing the images to create thumbnails and then up-rezing them in the gallery and carousel, making them look blurry.

I can’t attach screenshots to this post, but here is a link to one of the problem images in carousel view: https://agapevisuals.com/2018-year-in-review/#jp-carousel-9223

If you pull up the full size image you can see a noticeable difference in quality.

Can someone please help me out with some suggestions on how to resolve this?

That’s very odd, and I definitely see it happening too. Would you please contact us via https://jetpack.com/contact-support/?rel=support so we can take a closer look?

    Hi @estim,

I’ve replied in the thread you opened.

@estim this is the response I got from Jetpack:

One of our developers had a chance to look at this and it looks like the size and scale of this particular image is a bit of an edge case that results in a blurry final image. The good news is they think they have a patch that should fix it but it’s going to need some testing and review before they push it out to the public at large.

In the meantime, if you’d like a workaround, resizing the image to change the aspect ratio (height x width) a little and re-adding it may work.
