Bluehost Support?

    I currently host my WordPress sites on GoDaddy but am thinking of switching to Bluehost.

    When I called them to see if they could walk me through the transfer, they said they weren’t trained to do that. The guy I talked to made it sound like all he could really do was give me my login information and help me install WordPress.

    I rely very heavily on GoDaddy’s support, so this got me wondering: how is Bluehost’s support? Are they knowledgeable and helpful about most things? Is this just a fluke?

    I’d appreciate insights from anyone who has experience with Bluehost. Thanks!

    What kind of ‘transfer’ were you looking for support in? I don’t call their support very often, but my experiences have been good thus far.

    If you are wanting help with transferring the domain name, then I’m sure they can help you with what you need to do that. If you wanted help transferring the site, I don’t think they will help you besides maybe providing some basic steps, but WordPress has steps for that and there are other good online tutorials as well, if you want help there. You may want to call them again.

    Thanks for the responses.

    I was calling about transferring a site currently hosted on GoDaddy. I’m not that worried about figuring out how to do it; I’m more concerned with whether or not Bluehost has helpful support.

    Bluehost has been verry helpful to me. I changed the domain name on my site twice. Both times the site got broken pretty bad. The first time support did everything. The second time support said they do not do that and gave me links such as the one above. When i called back to do the transfer I got a new tech and he did everything.

    I am really happy with Bluehost.

    I’ve been with Bluehost for two months now and love it. As far as support goes, I haven’t had to contact them about anything so I can’t really vouch for it.

    Of course, the fact that I haven’t had to contact them about anything as everything that does go wrong is corrected in an appropriate amount of time without having to talk to anybody is always a plus for me.

    I use both Blue Host and Godaddy for all my sites and found that Godaddy each time I call gives me a bit different instructions. Blue Host is the same all the time. Both however, are good.

The WordPress team has provided a list of a few recommended hosting providers. For more details and other recommendations, please search through the forums or via Google (or your preferred search engine).

    So .. I’m leaving it open, but keeping an eye on it.
