Bluehost missing from dashboard

  • I know I am probably posting in the wrong place. Maybe even in the wrong forum. Sorry. I am a total noob and this is my first post.

    I will do my best to explain. When I am in my WordPress dashboard, there used to be an option at the top of the navigation panel on the left that said Bluehost and that was where I launched my staging site from. I was in the middle of creating a staging site when it gave me an error message. Next thing I know, the Bluehost option was gone! I thought it was a plugin but when I search for it, there is nothing. Plus, I can’t find much from Google. Does anyone know what happened? Sorry if I am in the wrong place but Bluehost is no help and I need to get my staging area back. I restored my backup and nothing changed. Help me please.

    This is an issue with Hosting provider i.e. Bluehost.

    Many hosting providers do have such feature for sake of user’s ease.

    So the possible reasons of not seeing that menu on your site are as follows:

    • Your site is in live mode now
    • If it should be present on the site irrespective of site mode, then please check the mu-plugins folder. Mostly such plugins are in mu-plugins folder

    The best way to check and sort out this issue is to contact Bluehost. They will be able to sort out this quickly.

    Sometimes, when you call support, you might hit a dead end. Hang up politely and go have a cup of coffee…

    Call back in a few minutes! Sometimes calling back gets a different support person and that person has your answer.

    If you continue getting dead ends then move hosting… but some of the people at Bluehost or anywhere else are good at what they do… That’s true for any host.

    Another option is asking for escalation to second-level support. Some support people operate from flip charts. Nothing wrong with that at all but support people who work well with flip charts or scripted responses sometimes run out of answers. The second-level people are usually a different breed.
