• Hey Guys,

I have posted about this in a few different ways with no final resolution.

I have recently purchased a domain and a hosting package from BlueHost (due to the recommendation on this website), and I am unable to run WP 100% on their servers. Everything installs and appears to be working fine, however, when I log into my WP admin, there is no dashboard.

This seems like a small enough problem, however I am not satisfied – something is obviously not right there and I am not content on having my blog live that way :).

What I would like, from all you wonderful human beings, is if you have used BlueHost, and have had the same problem, to please reply to this with your domain name (currently hosted with BH) or a domain name that you used to have hosted with them.

I have been in contact with BlueHost who are willing to try to rectify this matter if they have more data… Your help would be greatly appreciated, as I really don’t want to go through the hassle of trying to find another host.

    Thanking you in advance.

When I was with BlueHost, I had no Dashboard too. When I contacted their support, it was due to some feature that they had deactivated in PHP and they had no intentions of reactivating it for security concerns. It’s nice to see that they are finally making considerations by willing to work with you on it, but that’s long after I moved to Site5. I haven’t had any Dashboard problems since.

I currently run my website on BlueHost, and my dashboard works fine but the RSS feeds don’t. So I just go directly to the Write page.

What problems are you having with the Dashboard exactly?

Well, when I moved to BlueHost, my Dashboard was pretty much locked in the state that it was in when I left DreamHost. The blog stats updated, but the feeds were frozen. So, I investigated further by installing a new WordPress blog. The first visit to the DashBoard of this brand new blog showed the blog stats and literally nothing where the DevBlog and PlanetWordPress feeds should be. Whatever function that WordPress uses to retrieve the feeds is blocked by BlueHost’s PHP configuration.

This is the same problem I am having with bluehost. This hasn’t been a big deal for me since I check the dev blog and planet wordpress on a regular basis. I would however; be interested in getting this fixed.

thanks for the input guys… I really hope they fix this up.

Has bluehost caused any issues for anyone with their WP besides this dashie thing? I really don’t want to move hosts again, but it would be good if they fixed it – I don’t want limited functionality!

I haven’t had any other problems. I currently run three wordpress blogs under my bluehost account. Other then the dashboard issue, bluehost has been great!

ok that makes me a little bit less anal about everything ??

I was hoping I didn’t have to go anywhere else, because their plan suits me perfectly (I have about 5 domain names which I want hosted under the 1 hosting account)…

rainaot and macmanx, in my email to bluehost I mentioned you guys and your domain names, I hope you don’t mind, as a point of reference for them, as I did mention other customers or ex customers of them who have had this issue.

cypher, besically, there is no dashboard. when I log in, I only see the title of my weblong, the links (dashboard, write, manage etc) and the recent activity box on my right. everything in the middle and left is blank, as in no updates, or recent posts from developers.

That’s fine with me. If you find a solution let me know. You can contact me via my site: https://www.tivoblog.com.

    Thanks,
    Alex

I too, have the blank page in dashboard https://www.plogress.com I also am unable to run my perl scripts that scrape the library of congress from blue host, I get “Access denied” or something. Sounds like something blocking the requests originated by the server.

    excellent… the more the merrier…

erm, not that I am rejoycing in our inability to see WP right, but I think the more people that have this problem who rally together will make BlueHost more inclined to do something about it.

You may also want to direct bluehost to this thread, just in case someone decides to read an entry that says “bluehost installation issues” on the support forum and home of the WordPress tool, and wants to consider using Bluehost as a host for their site using WP ??

@mishku, that’s exactly what I have on Bluehost. The RSS feeds from the various locations are being gotten through MagpieRSS which uses Sockets to make the connection possible.

It would perhaps seem that this might be blocked on BlueHost.

    Update!!!

I officially heart Bluehost. They have fixed the problem (and quickly too!) It was less then 6 hours ago when I emailed them!

their response (short and sweet): “Try it now, it was our firewall causing the problem, I added the wordpress rss feeds to our
firewall trust list, and its coming up for me now.”

    I looked and I still don’t get it..oh well..

Maybe refresh? Or maybe it needs to be done per user? Not sure about that… :S
