• Bear with me, I’m technically challenged. I just purchased my own domain with GoDaddy so I could start a blog with www.remarpro.com. Because I’m technically challenged I went with Bluehost because it offers auto install. Well I ran the autointall and I’m told it was successful. They emailed a page listing my domain and the wp/admin address. When I click on either of these addresses I get the godaddy page. Please advise.

  • You actually did a good thing…you registered your own domain name with Godaddy and didn’t let Bluehost register it for you…that’s smart because if you ever decide to leave Bluehost, you still have your domain name.

Now, you have to go to your Godaddy account and into your domain management area and set your domain name to resolve to the bluehost server. In your information from Bluehost, they should tell you what the DNS servers are…there will be two and they will be something like ns1.bluehost.com and ns2.bluehost.com. That is the information you must enter for your domain name at Godaddy so it resolves to your account at Bluehost. Once you make this change at Godaddy, it could take up to 72 hours to resolve…but most of the time it’s a lot faster than that.

This was very helpful to me as well. Many thanks.

    Hey,

I am having a similar problem but with 123-reg. This is my 2nd blog- on my bluehost account and after installing wordpress using fantastico- am not sure what to do next.

The domain name I have with 123-reg is a co.uk as opposed to .com before.

When I go to the wp-admin page nothing comes up. Am I being a complete tool here?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    From web novice.
