Hi, I am using NextGEN Gallery Version 2.0.66.29 with current WordPress Version 4.0 and when uploading images via the “Add Galler/Images” tab, the images are 100% successfully uploaded, yet when I navigate to the specified gallery, no thumbnails have been created. Instead, there is a blue square with a question mark and no image appears when attempting to preview. Also, on actual website, in this particular gallery, I have the same blue squares with question marks in centre and when clicked I get the following error: “The requested content cannot be loaded.
    Please try again later.”

I never had this issue prior. I am also using Safari, yet am still getting this same issue in Firefox and IE.

    What am I missing?

Hmmm, I’m wondering @yieldpoint if you were to go to Settings >> Permalinks and reset your permalinks to ‘post name’, if that helps resolve the error you’re seeing. If not, try going to Gallery > other Options > Misc and clear the image cache and then afterwards run the ‘reset tool’. This will reset the default settings under Gallery Settings & Other Options, but all your galleries should remain intact.

One other possible solution if the above still does not resolve the error you’re seeing, is you may be experiencing permission issues on your server, and you’ll want to have your hosting tech support set the /wp-content/galleries directory to 755 permissions + all sub-directories. The site may not be able to read the galleries folder.

    Hi Becky,

Thanks so much for your reply. I have tried all of the above, with the exception of changing permissions, and the issue still remains. I will however look into changing the permissions tomorrow and update this thread as to the result. Again, thank you for your quick response.

Ok, so I’ve verified that the permissions are set to 755 on all appropriate folders and sub folders. I am still getting the same issue. I also checked via ftp that thumbs are being created in the thumbs folder of each gallery created. I even tried re-creating the thumbs without success. They do not display in admin or on website.

    Any suggestions?

    hi cais,

i am keeping this post related to my site in my specific topic – just changed accounts. anyhow, if you can help, that would be great. this is the update. i can get thumbs to display so long as i use images that were previously uploaded. however, any new images uploaded either from my pc or via ftp will not display thumbs whatsoever. permissions are set as they should be, 755, on all pertinent folders. i cannot figure this out for the life of me. anyone have an idea?

@sniggz – What is different now in your site/server environment compared to their statuses at the time of the existing images you are able to use.

    Hi Cais,

Sorry about the duplicate post – I changed accounts and was thinking.

Okay, here is the link to the current page I’m having issues with: https://lindsaycorp.ca/portfolio/commercial/

Nothing has changed via the site/server side. One thing I did notice was that if I go to Gallery Settings/NextGen Basic Thumbnails and select “yes” for ‘override thumbs’ then the thumbnails for the newly uploaded images will display and the old ones do not. What can I do to resolve this?

oh, and I just noticed that on my ftp side image backups are not being created when uploading new images to the correct folder, even though in the Gallery/Other Options/Image Options/ I have “yes” selected for ‘Automatically resize images after upload’ – I’m thinking this is my issue, but don’t know how to resolve it…

RESOLVED – server side settings were defaulting file permissions to 644 after each upload. Changed this default to custom setting and now all works fine. Thanks to those who tried to help.
