    Hey all,

I’ve set-up multisite and am in the process of uploading themes etc.
The blogs.dir folder has been created and has 775 permissions (I believe thats correct).

    One little question:

    1) Multi-site info says the blogs.dir folder is used for uploading of all files on the multi-site. However when I attempt to upload it seems to place the files in the traditional folders: /wp-content/uploads/2011/09/ etc. I can change the upload path and url in settings for each blog – however I assumed this would be default behaviour?

Is it ok this way? I’m just worried it may cause problems down the line, and as it’s my first multi-site I want to get it right from the start!

    appreciate any thoughts

It only does that for the main blog.

Go to a sub site. upload something. look at the URL.

    Hi Andrea,
Was hoping it would be you that replied – I’ve seen how many forum posts you’ve resolved ??

You’re quite right if I post on a sub site then it does populate the blogs.dir folder however the url in Media uploads is still showing blog-name/files/2011/09/file-name in the File URL box. Is this correct behaviour?

    The .htaccess file contains:

    # uploaded files
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$2 [L]
    #

    Thanks mate

    Yes. That’s how it works.
