• Plugin: Blogger Importer 0.7
I started the Blogger Importer on Thursday morning and 4 days later I still cannot get the importer to complete the import. I have refreshed several times, continued Import over and over and it will not move past 402. It seems to be hung up. I have even deleted the plugin and re-installed, however it still contains some setting that must be cached because it just tries to restart where it left off at 402 but will not import anything past 402 posts. I have also tried importing the XML file without any success. I was however able to successfully import into a WordPress.com blog. I tried to Export that file to import into my self-hosted wordpress with no success. Someone please help!
    Thanks!

What it does it tries to re-import the previous 401 posts and realises they are already present hences does not import them. If you also have problems importing the XML it could be there is something strangely formatted about the orgional blog post.
If you edit the post in Blogger and switch to HTML then copy that into something like https://validator.w3.org/ it should tell us if that is the issue.
The other possibility is that it’s a memory issue with your server.

If you want to try completely from scratch you’d need to go into the posts in WordPress and delete them and then empty the trash. However, I’m not sure this will help.

It has already skipped 402 of the 402 posts already imported, however it will not proceed from there. The export I did with Blogger comes out to be around 64 MB in size. What I cannot understand is why would it allow me to import just fine into the test WordPress.com site and not into my self-hosted WordPress site? I tried your suggestion of the validator, updated the code with the few suggestions on the post it is getting stuck at… Continued import… nothing happening. URGH! I have our self-hosted site through Network Solutions hosting. Is this something that they can check to see if it is getting held up with a memory issue?

I just spoke with Network Solutions and they confirmed that it is not a memory issue as we have plenty of space to upload.
My import is still held up at post 402… cannot proceed. Need help!

It’s not going to be the space to upload but the memory setting of the webserver.

The WP-Memory-Usage plugin will tell you what you’ve been allocated.

    For my server it reports

    PHP Version : 5.3.3 / 32Bit OS
    Memory limit : 128 MB
    Memory usage : 33.78 MB

If you’ve got other plugins already installed then you might be able to free up memory by deactivating them whilst importing. It’s normally a good idea to do that anyway.
