I’ve heard about an FTP conversion from Blogger, but I don’t know what it means for me. I usually compose my posts directly on Blogger, post them there, then import them to my WordPress blog (mainly for consistency’s sake, as I started the Blogger account first and don’t want to lose readers). Will the FTP deadline affect this process?

    Thanks!

  • joshshal, if I understand you right, the ftp deadline should have no effect on you. It is for those of us who adapted Blogger’s ftp-based option for publishing. Under that scheme, our posts were actually ftp’d by Blogger to our own server, and stayed there as static html files. Any files that needed to be changed as a result of a new post, or a change to the template, or whatever, were overwritten via ftp.

We liked this, because we always had at least all of the blog up until the moment safely on our own server, and under our own domain, etc.

That is the service that Blogger is ending. If you have been importing posts from blogger using your wordpress tools, you should not have any problem..except that weird auth thing in the other thread!!

Thank you, Ravensong. I wasn’t sure if the two issues were related, but I guess not. At least you cleared this up for me.
